Yoko K. Sen took the STIR stage at our first gathering, sharing her big idea and dream to transform the sound Experience in hospitals. As Guest Curator, Yoko will be taking the stage once again, hosting an inspirational and provocative discussion on how she and a small group of dedicated trailblazers from around the world are changing the sound of healing.

Yoko is an ambient electronic musician and the founder of Sen Sound, a social enterprise with a vision to transform the sound environment in hospitals.

She started an initiative to improve the soundscape in health care after spending many hours in hospitals as a patient.  She is a fellow at the Halcyon Incubator and artist-in-residence at Johns Hopkins Sibley Innovation Hub, as well as at Stanford MedicineX.  Her initiative “My Last Sound” was selected as a Top Idea by Open IDEO’s End of Life challenge.

Yoko served as an artist-in-residence at Strathmore Music Hall, The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, Saga Artist Residency (Iceland), and is currently serving as a Citizen Artist Fellow at The John. F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. She was named, by the Washington Music Association, as the “Best Electronica Artist” in 2011 and 2012.
